How SkiWith handles your information

Draft — not yet in effect

Last updated: [date]. This is a plain-language draft for review. Items in [brackets] still need to be filled in by the owner.

The short version

SkiWith helps skiers and snowboarders find people to ride with. To do that we keep a profile, the days you say you'll ski, and the messages you send to the people you connect with. We show you only to people who match your filters and whose filters you match. We only ever know your location at the level of a city or area, never where you are right now. We don't run ads and we don't sell your data.

Who is responsible

SkiWith is operated by [Company legal name], [Address]. Questions about this policy go to [Contact email].

What we collect

Account. Your email address and a password, or the identity your Apple or Google account gives us when you sign in with them (an email address and a user ID; Apple may give us a relay address instead of your real one). We also record that you confirmed you are 18 or older.

Profile. What you choose to tell other riders: your first name, a short bio, how you ride and how well, the vibe you're after, your home mountain and the area you usually leave from, your social handles, and one to four photos. We also ask for your birthdate and gender.

Trips. The mountain and dates of the days you post, whether you're offering or looking for a ride, and who you want to see each trip (just you, your crews, or everyone).

Connections and messages. Connect requests you send and receive, the crews you join, and what you write in trip and crew chats.

Safety. Who you block and any report you send about another rider, with the reason you give.

Technical. The basic information any server records when an app talks to it, such as the time of a request and the type of device. We don't use analytics or advertising trackers.

How we use it

Who can see what

Your profile is visible to riders you match with under the mutual filters, to the people you've connected with, to members of your crews, and to anyone you've sent a request to or received one from. Turning off "show me in Discover" hides you from strangers but not from people you already ride with.

Trips follow the visibility you pick for each one. Private trips are seen by nobody but you. Blocking someone hides you from them and them from you across the whole app.

Your photos are stored privately and are only served to people who are allowed to see your profile. Location data embedded in photos (EXIF) is removed before upload.

Your email, birthdate, filter preferences and the list of people you've blocked are never shown to other riders.

Where it lives

Your data is stored in a database and file storage hosted by Supabase on behalf of [Company legal name], in the [region] region. Supabase processes it under our instructions. Sign-in with Apple or Google involves Apple or Google as described in their own policies.

We don't share your data with anyone else, except where the law requires it or to protect riders' safety.

Ads and selling data

We show no ads. We don't sell, rent or trade your personal information, and we don't use it to build advertising profiles.

How long we keep it

As long as your account exists. When you delete your account we delete your profile, photos, trips, connections and crew memberships. Messages you sent may remain visible to the other people in those chats. Reports about other riders are kept for safety even after the reporter leaves. Backups roll off within [retention period].

Your choices

Deleting your account

For now, email [Contact email] from the address on your account and say you want it deleted. We'll confirm and remove it within [number] days. In-app deletion is coming.

Age

SkiWith is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account, and we don't knowingly keep data about anyone younger. If you think a minor has an account, tell us at [Contact email].

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll let you know in the app or by email before it takes effect.
